THANK YOU TO OUR MANY VOLUNTEERS THIS YEAR!! Our first year with extras! Thank you!
We followed along with the Adult Program on a kid level:
Mini Car Concours – 30 entrants painted cars and entered. Almost 500 voted in a People’s Choice judging. We set up in the entry of the Conference enter during the wine tasting and 2 volunteers worked the crowd to get people over to vote (Maggie Garrett – a LA Lawyer was very persuasive!)
Amazing Race – Gimmick Rally on Foot – Our newest activity planned for the older kids and families to do together was attended by over 30 people and thanks to a true Rally Master – David O’Neal’s involvement, a challenging fun course evolved. Who wouldn’t love a rally that ended with cooking smores over an open fire??
AnyCross – Our Kid sized Autocross was the biggest course ever in the Pavilion tent – all the kids had a great time with their scooters, rollerblades and Sophia Alban in her stroller!
T-Shirt Contest – Lots of excellent designs
Winners designs will be on the Kids Parade T-Shirts and Tote bags next year
Allison Yohanon and Abby Lodge
Our daily Make and Take activities included making candy cars - one had a roll bar and another pulled a trailer! Porsche Stepping Stones – Many with their Porsche as center piece and much bling around it. Always popular Sand art and designing a Pet Rock!
We had 25 kids and parents come out to the Mirror Maze and Mini Golf on Cannery Row tonight – Building new Porsche owners!
2014 Parade Kids will have plenty of fun and adventure as we visit Monterey, California. There is so much to for families to do. Last year we had 70 kids participate in parade (Ages 6 months -18 years old) Registered kids will receive a Kids Parade T-Shirt and goodie bag at check-in.
This year kids will have access to their favorite Parade activities and some new ones too! Below is a short description of the activities planned for the week. Something is going on every day!
Miniature Car Concours: Our newest tradition! Every kid gets to paint a wooden toy car and we have a “People’s Choice” Concours with awards given in each age group.
Make and Take Crafts: We make fun projects together and they are yours to keep! In the past we have made “Stained glass” Porsche pictures, sand art, and decorated Frisbees.
Anything Goes Autocross: A track is set up and the kids run it using anything that rolls – bikes, trikes, skateboards, rollerblades (sometimes they just use their legs and run it!) Awards are given per age group.
“The Amazing Race” Rally – This is a new activity for 2014 geared more for the older kids. This will be set up like a Gimmick Rally on foot. Awards will be given.
RC Cars: Who doesn’t love remote control cars? Bring your own or borrow ours! Times will be listed to practice on the track and we have a competition later in the week with awards given in each age group.
Ice Cream Social: This is for everyone 1-100 years old…..come build your own Sundae!
Pool Parties: Times will be listed on the schedule for Parade Kids to meet up and hang at the pool
Kids Night Out: (OK…adults are welcome too!) Come out for a fun night at Monterey Mirror Maze & Lazer Challenge as a group (additional cost; pre-register please)
The T-Shirt and Tote Design Contest: All kids are invited to design the picture that will be used for the T-Shirt and Tote bag for next years Parade Kids. (2015 Parade in French Lick IN).
Kids Camp: During the Concours and Victory Banquet evenings we will again be offering childcare for $20 per child which includes: games and activities, movies and a kid-friendly meal. (additional cost; pre-register please)
Parents! Please consider volunteering at one (or more) of our activities and join in the fun your children are having! We need a lot of volunteers to make Parade Kids successful!
This year's Kids' Autocross is sponsored by Porsche Cars North America.
